Services

From story-making workshops to ethical communications, I help values-driven people and organisations tell true, human stories.

Over the years I’ve worked with not-for-profits, charities, social enterprises, schools, small businesses and community groups to shape the way they speak to the world. My focus now is on work that honours people, protects dignity and leaves room for real complexity – especially when we’re talking about vulnerability, hardship or care.

Below is a snapshot of how we can work together.

Story-making workshops

I design and facilitate gentle, creative workshops that help children, teens and adults feel safe and confident sharing their own stories, in words, drawings, poems or spoken storytelling.

Workshops are:

  • inclusive of different abilities, attention spans and learning styles
  • designed with a trauma-aware, neurodiversity-friendly lens
  • grounded in nature, play and real life (not “perfect school writing”)

I run story-making sessions for:

  • school holiday and respite programs (like Saltbush)
  • schools and wellbeing projects
  • community groups, youth programs and arts organisations

These workshops can stand alone or feed into your organisation’s broader storytelling and impact work.

Community storytelling & impact narratives

You’re doing meaningful work. The challenge is how to talk about it in a way that feels honest, respectful and compelling.

I can help you:

  • gather real stories from participants, families and communities
  • shape them into impact stories for reports, websites, campaigns and grants
  • weave quotes and case studies into your communications without tokenism or “poverty porn”
  • build simple story-gathering processes your team can use long after I’m gone

The result: narratives that boards, funders, staff, clients, and importantly, your own conscience, can stand behind.

Ethical communications consulting (NFP, charities & social enterprises)

Sometimes you need another brain in the room; someone who understands both strategy and ethics.

I offer consulting sessions and ongoing support to help you:

  • clarify your key messages and tone of voice
  • stress-test campaigns and comms against your values
  • consider consent, representation and power dynamics in your storytelling
  • write or review communications policies and guidelines

Think of it as a cross between a strategist, an editor and a values-check.

Human-centred writing & editing in the age of AI

AI is now part of how many organisations work, but it doesn’t have to flatten your voice or make you sound just like everyone else.

I can help you:

  • turn AI-generated or rough internal drafts into warm, human-centred writing
  • refine your brand voice so AI tools support it rather than dilute it
  • edit key pieces (web copy, newsletters, donor comms, impact reports) so they sound like you, not “the internet”
  • train your team in practical ways to use AI without losing nuance, care or personality

If you’ve ever read something your organisation “wrote” and thought: This doesn’t sound like us, this is where I come in.

Marketing & communications planning

For values-driven organisations who want structure without losing heart, I provide:

  • simple, realistic communications and content plans
  • campaign concepts and timelines (especially for fundraising or impact storytelling)
  • alignment between your strategy, your stories and your channels

We can work together on a once-off plan, or I can walk alongside you as you implement.

Articles, features & long-form writing

I write articles, profiles and long-form pieces that bring people and ideas to life, drawing on my experience as a regular contributor to Mornington Peninsula Magazine and other publications.

This can include:

  • think pieces and essays on creativity, community, ethics and technology
  • profiles of community members, staff, volunteers or partners
  • feature stories for magazines, blogs or annual reports

Emceeing, spoken word & presentations

Sometimes the best way to communicate is in the room, in real time.

As a broadcaster on community breakfast radio (98.7 RPPFM), spoken word performer and experienced public speaker, I offer:

  • emceeing for community, arts and fundraising events
  • spoken word performances tailored to your theme
  • talks and workshops on storytelling, ethical communications and human-centred use of AI
